If your wedding or elopement plans were derailed by the coronavirus, but you missed out on entering this spring’s rush of contests offering free micro-ceremonies, venue space, a year of free beer, or a honeymoon getaway to Jamaica, courtesy of a fun partnership between Shark Tank and Honeyfund, we’ve got you. Here are five generous offerings that are still available from venues and vendors around the country.
1. Amway Grand Plaza
A historic hotel in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, Amway Grand Plaza is offering up its romantic Gerald R. Ford Ballroom at no charge for intimate wedding ceremonies and celebrations held this summer. The offer includes 1-½ hours for the ceremony and celebration, as well as 20 percent off a one-night stay at the hotel should you choose to spend your first night there as newlyweds.
2. LI Weddings
If you like seafood, beaches, shows about talking to dead people, wineries, good pizza, or boating, pack those bags and head to Long Island. LI Weddings is running a contest for a wedding giveaway through December 31, 2020, and entering is as simple as filling out this form. The only requirement is that the wedding must be held in New York City, Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau, or Suffolk County (which is good news for those who never leave the island).
3. Petite Soirée
Attention, healthcare workers in the Washington, DC region: Petite Soirée, a new micro-wedding company that launched in May in response to the changing wedding landscape due to the coronavirus, is giving away a 10-person intimate ceremony at Anderson House, a ~Gilded-Age~ mansion on Massachusetts Avenue/Embassy Row in Dupont Circle near downtown DC. Besides use of the mansion, the giveaway also includes (buckle up) a brunch reception; photography and videography; catering and a cake; florals; makeup; and ceremony music. Enter by 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2020, with the winning couple announced on July 2, 2020. For eligibility requirements and all the fine print, visit the contest page of Petite Soirée’s website.
4. The Postmark
This soaring, circa-1903 building in Chillicothe, Ohio (about an hour south of Columbus) served as a post office until 1966, when it was turned into a banquet hall. This spring, The Postmark underwent another makeover, transforming into a striking wedding venue space. In May, it held its very first ceremony, an elopement giveaway to a couple whose elopement to Florida was derailed by the coronavirus. Currently, The Postmark is offering discounts to couples whose wedding plans were affected by the coronavirus; email hello@thepostmarkoh.com for the specifics.
5. River Walk Chapel and Water Works Hall
Located just 30 minutes outside Dallas, the newly-opened River Walk Chapel and Water Works Hall—which sit on a 158-acre, mixed-use space offering rustic vibes and bucolic views—are giving away an extremely generous wedding package worth $75,000. The package includes full-day rental of both the River Walk Chapel and Water Works Hall; a day-of coordinator; eight hours of photography; catering for up to 150 guests; four hours of bar service; and a wedding cake, florals, and videography from local vendors. (Yes, all of that is real.) Enter by July 1, 2020; the winner will be announced July 29, 2020.
